What to expect from a physiotherapy session at Body Movin’

Assessment

Our assessment includes a discussion about your (individual) goals in context of any injuries or limitations as well as your overall lifestyle. Physical assessment of muscles, joints and quality of how you move

Education

We will communicate with you so that you can understand the nature of your condition and have a clear path on how we will work as a team to manage it

Manual therapy / Hands-On

We often use hands-on treatment including therapeutic massage techniques, joint mobilisation and manipulation for pain relief

Exercise programs / Rehabilitation

Homebased, Gym based, Sport specific. Challenging and achievable exercise programs to assist with tissue healing, injury recovery and functional improvement. Targeted post-operative rehabilitation programs developed in conjunction with your health care team / specialist. For athletes, both elite and social, stage-based exercise programs ensure safe return to sport following injuries “You’ve got to walk before you can run”

Dry Needling / Acupuncture

In western dry needling we use techniques which are based in western science rather than eastern philosophy, however, there is some mechanical crossover with traditional Acupuncture techniques

Aquatic Physiotherapy and Exercise (Hydrotherapy)

Using the properties of water (buoyancy, drag, density and pressure) we can safelyload the body in different ways to land based exercise. Performed at a local, heated pool. 1-on-1 by appointment, Group exercise sessions TBA

Clinical Pilates Matwork

Pilates is a low-impact style of exercise focusing on posture, control of movement andcore strength. Clinical Pilates takes into account individual’s injuries, limitations and movementpatterns and is used in rehabilitation. 1-on-1or Pairs by appointment, Classes TBA

Running Assessments

Whether you’re just getting started from “Couch to Kilometers” or a seasoned runnerstriving for the next marathon PB. Screening your muscle length, strength and symmetry. Gait analysis – stride length, strike type & cadence. Specified program to improve your running technique and economy, keeping you on track
