Common Questions, Answered

Whether you're booking your first appointment or just want to know what to expect, we've answered the questions we hear most often below. If you can't find what you're looking for, get in touch and we're happy to help.

Getting started

Do I need a referral?

Physiotherapists are primary healthcare practitioners meaning you can book yourself in privately without a referral. To claim the costs under Medicare, Workcover or insurers other than Private health insurance a referral from your GP will be required

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Prior to your appointment, please send any relevant documentation including referrals, workcover medical certificates / claim numbers, case managers details or imaging reports/scans, via email to our admin desk.

What happens in a physiotherapy session?

Clinicians diagnose a condition following a thorough verbal and physical assessment, and provide a treatment plan, often including advice/education, hands-on techniques and exercise programming

What should I wear for my appointment?

Wear something comfortable and easy to remove for the physiotherapist to see and touch the skin of the affected region e.g. shorts for a knee injury. Often a buttoned shirt is easier to put on/remove than a tee shirt for shoulder injuries.

Appointments & Bookings

How long is a physiotherapy session?

Initial assessments take approximately 40-45min . Reviews of single region conditions approximately 25-30min. Complex conditions and/or multiple-region conditions require 45-60min for follow-ups.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on multiple factors including how long you have been dealing with the condition, the severity of the condition and what level you need to return to. Our physiotherapist will explain the options and plan with you in the initial session

How soon should I book an appointment?

If you have an acute/recent injury or need advice on injury management, booking an early appointment may be beneficial. Our physiotherapists can guide recovery in the early/acute stage of injury to reduce the risk of re-aggravation of injury or delayed recovery.

If you have been dealing with a longer-term injury, our physiotherapists can assess the barriers and limitations of your condition/s to work towards your physical goals.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We ask for 24 hours’ notice to avoid a late cancellation fee, this ensures that people in need aren’t turned away unnecessarily.
